CDS manufacturers instruments with vibrating wire principle which is basically works on the principle of the resonant frequency measurement of a tensioned steel wore. The resonant frequency of a tensioned wire is proportional to the strain or tension in the wire.

The fundamental relationship is used in different configuration to find our measurements of strain, load, force, pressure, temperatures and tilt etc. 

Vibrating wire technology sensors are firstly well known for its long term stability and the second voltage over other conventional type is the frequency output rather than voltage as in other. It is well known that frequencies can be transmitted over long cable lengths i.e. as long as 2 kilometers without any appreciable signal degradation caused due to variation in cable resistance, contact resistance, leakage to ground, moisture or water penetration etc.
